Why am I running for County Commissioner?
As the Mayor of Celina, I faced several issues that were the direct result of the Commissioner’s Court decisions – decisions that I feel were bad for everyone. Our current commissioners are not placing the taxpayers first. When I became Mayor of Celina, the taxes were out of control. I inherited a skyrocketing tax rate. The first thing I did was to start a trend of cutting city taxes. I am proud to say that we have cut our taxes for 5 consecutive years for a total of 20%. THAT is putting the taxpayers first. My vision for the county is to be proactive. Our current commissioners have been asleep at the wheel. We have to pass a huge bond package to get our roads done, while Denton County planned ahead – they got back from the state what amounts to 3 bond packages for our taxpayers. We need vision and we need leadership.
I believe in conservative values and principles. State Representatives Ken Paxton and Jodie Laubenberg are endorsing my candidacy and agree that Collin County needs change. We need better relationships with our cities and with our state.
My Goals as a County Commissioner
1. Apply true conservative values to court: cutting waste, reducing bureaucracy, promoting a more efficient county budget
2. Be held accountable to the taxpayers – help their pocketbooks by reducing taxes – as I did with Celina
3. Be a FULL-TIME commissioner: I will quit my consulting job and will office out of the courthouse 5 days a week
4. Will NEVER vote for a pay increase – I will recuse commissioner’s salaries from the other elected officials salary increases when they vote each September - commissioners have profited enough!
5. Will CALL A VOTE to rescind the previous year’s salary increases for our commissioners
6. Will ACT LOCALLY to reduce illegal immigration: hold local companies and county vendors accountable who hire undocumented workers; suspend and revoke the licenses of repeat offenders; build stronger relationships with local, state and federal officials and encourage more cooperation amongst law enforcement agencies
I would appreciate your support and especially your vote. Collin County has grown to the point where we are in desperate need of a Commissioner who will put the interest of the taxpayers first.
Below is the chart of Heritage Alliance Voter’s PAC who evaluates candidates based on how confident they are that the candidate would govern conservatively. I am pleased to have their endorsement.
